Traveling to and from the U.S. has become difficult since 9/11.
There are many checkpoints at the airports.
You can't take any liquid on the plane in your hand luggage.
One of my students bought a snowglobe.
It is a glass ball full of liquid.
When you shake it, it looks like it's snowing.
She put the snowglobe in her hand luggage, but they wouldn't let her take it on the plane.
She had to leave it at the airport.
Poor girl!

アメリカ間での旅行は9.11が起きて以来困難になってしまった。
空港ではたくさんの検査がされるようになった。
手荷物として液体を持ち込むことも出来ない。
ある生徒がスノーグローブを買った。
スノーグローブというのは、液体が満ちている透明な球形のもので、
振ると雪のようにみえるものだ。
その生徒はスノーグローブを手荷物として持ち込もうとしたが、液体なのでそれを持ってでは飛行機に乗せてくれなかった。
結局それを空港に置いていかなければならなかった。
かわいそうな話だ・・・
